01
The service
Swath lets you pin a place on Earth and watches it using publicly available satellite imagery. When a new scene is available we compare it with the last, estimate how much changed, and tell you.
Imagery is not live. Optical scenes resolve about 10 metres per pixel and are captured every 2 to 5 days; cloud can delay them further. Nothing smaller than a shed is visible, and people and vehicles cannot be identified. Change estimates and written summaries are produced automatically and may be wrong.
02
Your account
- You must be at least 13 to use the service, and at least 18 to subscribe to a paid plan or have a parent or guardian's consent.
- You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email. Anyone with access to that inbox can access your account, so keep it secure.
- One account per person. You are responsible for everything done through your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from Account → Delete account in the app.
03
Plans and billing
The Free plan watches one place, checked monthly. Plus and Pro add more places, more frequent checks, more layers and more questions. Current limits are shown in the app and may change for new subscribers; we will not reduce what you are already paying for mid-term.
- Subscriptions are bought through Apple’s App Store and billed to your Apple ID. Prices are shown in your local currency before you buy.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its terms. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
- Every scene is purchased from the satellite network on your behalf. “Unlimited” features are subject to fair use; we may slow or pause an account whose use is far outside what a single person or property would reasonably need.
04
Imagery and attribution
Scenes contain modified Copernicus Sentinel data, provided under the European Union's free and open data policy. You may save and share imagery from your places for your own purposes provided you keep the attribution “Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data” where practical.
Enhanced (sharpened) imagery is generated by software and may introduce detail that is not present in the original. Treat it as an aid to reading the scene, not as evidence.
05
Not an emergency service
Hazard watch, including fire, flood and storm detection, is best-effort and delayed by hours to days. It can miss events and it can raise false alarms. Do not rely on Swath for safety, evacuation, insurance, legal or operational decisions. Always follow official warnings from emergency services and the Bureau of Meteorology.
06
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the service to monitor or harass an identifiable person, or in breach of any law, including privacy and surveillance laws;
- resell, scrape, bulk-export or redistribute imagery, data or alerts as a competing service;
- interfere with the service, probe its security, or access it other than through the app and interfaces we provide;
- circumvent plan limits, including by creating multiple accounts.
07
Our content
The app, website, design, text, software and the Swath name are owned by Atlas Development or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own while these terms apply. Satellite data remains subject to its own licence as described above.
08
Availability and changes
We depend on third-party satellite data, imagery providers, app stores and cloud infrastructure, and the service may be interrupted when they are. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service. If we discontinue a paid feature you rely on, we will give reasonable notice and you may cancel.
09
Liability
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those guarantees.
Otherwise, to the extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is”, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or to re-supplying the service, at our option.
10
Ending the agreement
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or that we reasonably believe poses a risk to the service or other users. If we close an account without cause while you have a paid subscription, we will help you obtain a pro-rata refund from Apple.
11
General
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If any part of these terms is unenforceable the rest still applies. We may update these terms; we will show the date at the top and notify you of material changes in the app or by email before they take effect.
Questions about these terms: support@swath.com.au.
